Kingdom
Kingdom — Official Operational Guide
This guide explains how to use the Windows version of Kingdom represented by the 1.1.4 application source. It describes available behavior, not a promise that a particular build has been publicly released. The English interface is the reference for button and menu names; other supported interface languages translate those labels.
Kingdom is a local game-library manager. It displays game entries from folders you provide, helps you run external installers and updaters, links installations when it can verify them, launches games, tracks playtime, and offers local save-management tools. A repack folder in this guide means one game-source folder immediately inside the configured Repack folder. An installation root means the parent folder containing separate installed-game folders. A linked installation is a game folder Kingdom has associated with one library entry after checking local evidence. Kingdom does not supply game content or determine your right to use it.
Quick start
- On first launch, choose an interface language and select the Repack folder containing your individual game-source folders.
- At Do you already have games installed?, select the parent folder containing those game folders, or choose the option to create or use
C:\KingdomGamesfor future installations. Review any proposed existing-game links before accepting them. An unrecognized game remains unlinked. - Open LIBRARY. Each detected game-source folder appears as a card. Use ALL, INSTALLED, or NOT INSTALLED and the library search to find a game.
- On a not-installed card, use INSTALL if its source folder contains
setup.exe, or use the gear menu's Link if the game is already installed under the selected installation root. - Once Kingdom recognizes the installation, use ▶ LAUNCH. The gear menu provides Local files, Launch executable, Update, Saves, and other game actions.
Keep a separate copy of important saves before replacing, deleting, or reinstalling game data. Kingdom's protective backups depend on finding the correct save location and completing the copy.
What Kingdom can and cannot do
| Kingdom can | Kingdom cannot or does not automatically do |
|---|---|
| Display game-source folders immediately inside the configured Repack folder as library entries. | Download or provide games, installers, updates, license keys, or an online game catalog. |
| Propose and verify some existing installations beneath the configured installation root; let you explicitly link a verified game folder. | Reliably identify every game or installer layout, search arbitrary drives for installations, or treat a folder name alone as proof that a game is installed. |
Open an external setup.exe from a game's source folder and check for installation evidence after it closes. |
Install game files by itself, guarantee an external installer succeeded, or silently link an uncertain installation. |
| Launch a recognized game using an identified or user-selected executable and record observed playtime. | Guarantee that every executable is the right one or that every game will start successfully. |
| Guide an external game updater and archive a technically successful update. | Download updates, update Kingdom itself through this workflow, or prove game functionality solely from an updater's exit status. |
| Start a verified Windows uninstaller; optionally clean current local saves after additional checks and consent. | Invent an uninstaller, bypass missing identity evidence, delete remaining installation files automatically, or promise that every uninstall is possible. |
| Back up, restore, open, or delete local saves after a safe save location is known. | Detect every game's save layout, restore backups automatically after reinstall, or guarantee protection when the save location or backup is unavailable. |
Interface and configuration
LIBRARY shows cards and the ALL, INSTALLED, and NOT INSTALLED filters. A card's main action is INSTALL when Kingdom does not recognize an installation, and ▶ LAUNCH or UNINSTALL when it does. The card's gear menu contains Cover, Path, Playtime, Update, Saves, and Delete repack. Link appears only for a not-installed card; Local files and Launch executable appear only for a recognized installation. The card also offers Edit title.
SETTINGS contains Folders, Management, Language, Playtime, and Info. Info provides Tutorial, Credits, and Donations. The donations button opens an external web page only when selected. These information pages are not an application-update service.
Set or change folders
- Open SETTINGS → Folders.
- Use BROWSE or the path fields to set the Repack folder and Game installation folder, then select SAVE.
- Return to LIBRARY and check the resulting cards and installed states.
The Repack folder is the parent of the game-source folders. The Game installation folder is the parent of installed-game folders, not one individual game folder. Changing either root can change which cards or installations Kingdom can see. Kingdom may preserve a known game's folder name when the installation root changes, but the new location still needs valid evidence; review the resulting state before using actions that affect files. Update Archive and Savedata backup are service folders beneath the installation root, not games.
Change language, search, and filter
Use SETTINGS → Language to change the application language. The interface provides English, Italian, Spanish, German, and French. On LIBRARY, search by game title and use ALL, INSTALLED, or NOT INSTALLED to narrow the cards. These controls do not change game files.
Use the first-launch wizard to review existing installations
After choosing the Repack folder, answer Do you already have games installed?. If yes, choose the parent folder containing the game installations. Kingdom reviews candidate folders under that root and displays proposed matches. Review each displayed path; a uniquely supported proposal can be included with Link this game. Leave a proposal unchecked when it is not the intended installation. Ambiguous or insufficiently evidenced candidates are not linked by this review. You can also USE FOLDER WITHOUT LINKS when offered. Choosing the default C:\KingdomGames path creates or reuses that folder and its service folders without clearing pre-existing contents. The wizard does not search unrelated locations outside the root you selected.
Manage library entries and artwork
Add or find a game entry
Place a separate game-source folder directly inside the configured Repack folder, then return to or refresh LIBRARY. Kingdom uses these immediate child folders as entries. A compressed update archive is not a normal game-source folder. If the game does not appear, check the configured root, that the source is a directory directly beneath it, and that the folder remains accessible. Kingdom does not create a game entry from an installed-game folder alone.
Rename a card or choose its cover
Use Edit title on the card to change the displayed title. This does not rename the source or installed-game folder. Use the gear menu's Cover to choose a local PNG, JPG/JPEG, WEBP, or BMP image. Kingdom can also pick a unique suitable image from the source folder. If an image is invalid or a cover choice cannot be saved, the previous card state remains the safer reference; select another image. The gear menu's Path opens the source folder. Local files opens the recognized installation folder when that action is available.
Delete a game-source folder
Use the gear menu's Delete repack, or SETTINGS → Management → DELETE REPACK. Select the intended entry and respond to the confirmation prompts. This permanently removes that game's source folder and its library entry. If that game has archived updates, Kingdom asks separately whether to delete that game's Update Archive folder. Existing save backups are retained. This is not a game uninstall: do not use it as a substitute for the external uninstaller. If Kingdom reports incomplete cleanup, inspect the path shown in the warning; do not assume all source data was removed. Cancel before final confirmation to keep the source folder.
Reset initial setup
In SETTINGS → Management, choose RESET KINGDOM and accept both confirmations only if you want to forget the configured Repack and installation folders. The first-launch wizard appears next time Kingdom starts. This reset does not delete or change your folders, games, archived updates, or backups. It is not a full erasure of all Kingdom data.
Install or link a game
Start an installation from a game card
Prerequisites: The card is not recognized as installed; a Game installation folder is configured; the corresponding game-source folder contains setup.exe directly inside it.
- On the card, choose INSTALL. Kingdom shows a proposed game subfolder under the configured installation root.
- Select COPY, then paste that path into the external installer's destination field. Review the destination inside the installer; the displayed path is a proposal, not proof of an installation.
- Choose OPEN INSTALLER, handle any Windows elevation prompt, and complete the external installer. Keep Kingdom open while it waits if you want it to check after the installer closes.
- Return to the card. If Kingdom found one sufficiently evidenced installation, the card becomes installed. Otherwise, use Link for explicit recovery once setup is complete.
Kingdom can create the proposed destination folder before starting setup.exe. The external installer controls what it writes. Closing or canceling Kingdom's wait does not stop the external installer. Likewise, an installer exit code by itself does not establish that the expected game was installed. If setup.exe is absent, Kingdom reports Installer not found; ordinary installation does not accept a ZIP/7Z/RAR file as a replacement for that executable. If existing save backups are found, Kingdom shows their location before opening the installer but does not restore them automatically.
Link an existing installation manually
Prerequisites: The game has a library card but is not recognized as installed; its installed-game folder is beneath the configured Game installation folder.
- Open that card's gear menu and choose Link.
- Review the offered candidate folders, or browse for the specific installed-game folder under your configured installation root.
- Check that the displayed path belongs to this game, then choose VERIFY AND LINK. Choose NOT YET to leave it unlinked.
- If verification succeeds and Kingdom saves the choice, the card becomes installed. Otherwise it remains unlinked.
Manual selection authorizes Kingdom to consider the folder; it does not bypass the installation-evidence and path-safety checks. Selecting the installation root itself, a folder outside it, a linked/redirected path, an unrelated game folder, or a folder with insufficient evidence can be refused. If the first-launch review was skipped or rejected for the same installation root, do not expect the wizard to bind it silently later; use this explicit Link action when evidence is available.
Launch a game and manage playtime
On an installed card, choose ▶ LAUNCH and approve the Windows elevation prompt if applicable. Kingdom uses a previously selected valid executable when available. Otherwise it searches the recognized installation folder and may choose a clear candidate or ask you to select among candidates. If no suitable executable is found, the game does not launch through Kingdom. The gear menu's Launch executable lets you choose another eligible executable inside that installation; Kingdom remembers a successfully saved selection for later launches. This changes the launch choice, not the installation path.
Kingdom tracks playtime while it observes a game process running from the recognized installation folder. The library card displays recorded playtime; its gear menu's Playtime action offers a reset confirmation. You can also clear it through SETTINGS → Playtime: select the game, choose RESET TIME, and confirm. A game may be listed there whether installed or not. Resetting playtime does not delete game files or save backups. Process access or unusual launchers may prevent accurate tracking; treat the value as an observed estimate, not a licensing or billing record.
Manage local saves
The gear menu's Saves opens the Save Manager. Kingdom normally needs a game-launch observation before it can look for that game's save location. If automatic discovery is inconclusive, the interface can ask you to SELECT FOLDER. Select the game's actual local save folder; Kingdom can refuse an unsafe folder. A save path may be outside the game installation folder. If multiple known save folders exist, Kingdom may ask which one to open. Do not select a general parent directory containing unrelated data.
Back up saves
In Saves, choose BACK UP SAVES. Kingdom copies the current saves into Savedata backup\<game>\Backup_YYYY-MM-DD beneath the configured installation root. More than one backup on a day receives an additional numeric suffix. Check the completion message and displayed destination. If no current save files are found, the location is unavailable, or the copy fails, no complete backup should be assumed. Preserve any existing independent backup before risky work.
Restore a backup
In Saves, choose RESTORE SAVES, select a listed backup, and confirm. Current local saves are replaced. When current saves exist, Kingdom attempts an additional protective PreRestore backup first; if that attempt fails, Kingdom asks whether you still want to proceed. Cancel if you do not accept the risk. Kingdom needs a known safe destination save location and does not automatically restore old backups during installation or linking. After a successful restore, verify the game reads the intended data.
Open or delete current saves
Choose OPEN SAVE FOLDER to open a known original save folder; if multiple known locations are available, select one. Choose DELETE SAVES only when you intend to remove current local saves, then confirm the warning. Existing Kingdom save backups are retained. An unavailable or unverified location can prevent either operation. Deleting current saves is separate from deleting a repack or uninstalling a game.
Update an installed game
Prerequisites: Kingdom recognizes the game as installed; you already have an appropriate update source and can follow its external updater. Kingdom does not obtain the update for you.
- Place the update folder or supported archive in Windows Downloads, or have another local source ready for manual selection.
- On the installed game's gear menu choose Update. Let Kingdom search, select one candidate if offered, or choose BROWSE and then FILE / ARCHIVE or FOLDER.
- If Kingdom cannot confidently identify the updater, select a valid update
.exein the update folder or one of its immediate subfolders when prompted. Review the displayed game installation path and copy/paste it into the external updater as instructed. - If a known save location is available, allow Kingdom to create its pre-update backup. If that backup fails, decide explicitly whether to continue without it.
- Choose UPDATE, complete the external updater, and wait for it to close. After Kingdom reports technical completion, launch the game once to check it works as intended.
Kingdom may extract a selected supported archive to prepare the updater. Support depends on the included archive engine and the particular file; damaged, password-protected, unreadable, or unsupported archives are refused with the original source preserved. Kingdom runs one selected update at a time. A cancellation during search or selection does not launch an updater. Once an external updater is running, Kingdom waits for it to finish; do not assume closing Kingdom would stop that external process.
Kingdom reports UPDATE COMPLETED only after a successful updater exit, verified archival under Update Archive\<game> beneath the installation root, and safe cleanup of the original update source. If the updater fails, the source is preserved and Kingdom cannot report technical success. If archival fails, the source is preserved. If cleanup is incomplete, the final archive may exist while some originals remain; inspect the paths shown instead of assuming they were deleted. Even UPDATE COMPLETED is not proof that the game itself works; launch and check it. This is a game-update workflow, not a Kingdom application-update feature.
Uninstall an installed game
- On a recognized installed card choose UNINSTALL. Read the confirmation dialog. Leave Clean uninstall unchecked unless you also intend to remove current local saves after additional safeguards.
- Confirm UNINSTALL. Kingdom requires a Windows uninstall entry it can verify for this exact game and installation. If several verified entries exist, choose the exact product and entry or cancel.
- Complete the external uninstaller and wait for Kingdom's result. Kingdom treats the uninstall as verified only when the uninstaller succeeds, its verified Registry entry disappears, and observed child processes have finished.
- Review any warning and the remaining installation folder yourself. Kingdom preserves remaining game files for manual review; it does not automatically delete that folder.
If no verified Windows uninstall entry exists, Kingdom refuses to start anything or delete data. A locally present uninstaller executable or a manually linked launch executable alone does not replace that verification. If the external uninstall fails, is canceled, or cannot be verified complete, Kingdom preserves local saves, metadata, and remaining files. Do not interpret an uncertain result as permission to assume the game is gone.
With Clean uninstall requested, save cleanup is a later, separate step. After verified external uninstall, Kingdom requires a fresh, complete backup of all known current saves and asks again before deleting those saves. Existing backups are kept. If the backup cannot be verified, you decline the second prompt, or cleanup is incomplete, current saves and/or metadata are preserved as indicated by the warning. Clean uninstall still does not authorize deletion of the remaining installation folder.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | What to check and do |
|---|---|
| No game card appears. | Confirm SETTINGS → Folders → Repack folder points to the parent of separate game-source directories. The source must be an immediate child directory; check that the folder is accessible. |
| A game is already installed but the card says NOT INSTALLED. | Check that Game installation folder is the parent of that game's folder. In the first-launch review, uncertain or rejected candidates stay unlinked. Use the card's gear menu Link and verify the specific folder when evidence is available. Do not move or delete data just to force detection. |
| Installer not found or OPEN INSTALLER cannot start setup. | Check for setup.exe directly inside the game's source folder, the configured installation root, folder access, and any Windows elevation denial. An update archive is not an installation substitute. |
| The installer finished but the card remains uninstalled. | Installer closure does not prove installation. Finish setup, verify where it actually wrote the game, then use Link for a folder under the configured installation root. |
| VERIFY GAME INSTALLATION refuses a link. | Check that the selected path is the installed game folder directly below the configured root, with game files and a suitable executable, not a service folder or a redirected/unrelated path. Kingdom keeps the card unlinked if evidence is insufficient or the choice cannot be saved. |
| ▶ LAUNCH cannot find or starts the wrong executable. | Check the installation folder and use Launch executable to select a valid game executable from it. If Windows refuses elevation or the external game fails, Kingdom cannot repair the game itself. |
| Saves cannot find a location. | Launch the game through Kingdom and let it create or modify a save, then try again. If prompted, select the game's real save folder. Kingdom may refuse unsafe or inaccessible choices. Do not assume a backup exists without a completion message. |
| No update is found. | Check that the card is installed and the update source is accessible in Downloads. Use BROWSE for a known local archive/file or folder. Kingdom may refuse a source with no identifiable or user-selectable updater. |
| An update reports ARCHIVE FORMAT NOT SUPPORTED, UPDATE NOT CONFIRMED, ARCHIVING FAILED, or CLEANUP INCOMPLETE. | Read the message: the original source is preserved on unsupported preparation, updater failure, or archive failure; incomplete cleanup may leave both archive and originals. Inspect the indicated paths and the external updater's own result before trying again. |
| UNINSTALL says no verified uninstall entry exists. | Kingdom could not establish the Windows entry for this exact game and installation. No uninstall or deletion was started. Review the installation and Windows' own application listing; do not infer that Kingdom can uninstall merely because a game executable is linked. |
| Kingdom cannot verify uninstall completion. | Check the external uninstaller's result and any still-running child process. Kingdom preserves saves, metadata, and remaining files when the outcome is uncertain. |
| A folder or setting seems to have disappeared after configuration changes. | Recheck the saved Repack and installation roots. RESET KINGDOM forgets the two configured roots without deleting their contents; set them again through the wizard or Folders. |
| Kingdom reports a configuration read/write problem. | Do not delete or overwrite the data folder. Check Windows folder access and any recovery path shown by the error; an older .bak configuration copy may be available. Back up both files before manual recovery. |
Data, limitations, and external programs
Kingdom stores its configuration and managed covers under %LOCALAPPDATA%\PinguSama\Kingdom. The configured Repack folder contains source folders you chose; the configured Game installation folder contains installed games and, when used, Update Archive and Savedata backup. Backups and archived updates are local files, not cloud copies. Changing the installation root changes where Kingdom looks for or creates its service folders; keep track of earlier roots if you need older backups.
Kingdom operates locally on paths you configure. Normal game installation, update, launch, and uninstall involve external executables and may request Windows administrator approval. Those external programs determine their own changes; inspect their prompts, destinations, and outcomes. Kingdom's game-update search looks for local material, and this guide does not identify an automatic network download, account synchronization, telemetry control, or Kingdom self-update workflow. The Donations action opens the project's external page only when selected. Do not treat the absence of a documented feature here as a privacy-policy substitute; consult the applicable official privacy notice for policy terms.
Automatic identification is deliberately conservative. A directory name, successful process exit, or user-selected path alone may not be enough to mark a game installed or safely uninstall it. An installation outside the configured root, an ambiguous game identity, a nonstandard executable or save layout, inaccessible files, and unsupported archives can require explicit review or remain unsupported. Kingdom does not bypass these refusals. Operations that delete a repack or current saves are intentional, separately confirmed, and potentially irreversible; retain independent backups when the data matters.
